Strings and Songwriters: A Showcase of Local Composers

The Event:

The Community Chamber Orchestra presents "Strings and Songwriters: A Showcase of Local Composers." The Community Chamber Orchestra will be presenting a songwriter's showcase concert, featuring Polychord records artist and writer Elizabeth Anne Mall. Mall has had original songs featured on national and international platforms, such as MTV's "Ex on the Beach," "The Franchise," "KC Chiefs" documentary and for TetraPak's Christmas ad campaign. She has written songs specifically to be performed at this concert. One all-orchestra compilation, "Prairie Song," is a collection of five movements written for strings based on her experiences in the Flint Hills. Mall has also mentored local student songwriters who have composed their own songs to perform at the concert. "Strings and Songwriters: A Showcase of Local Composers" will be held Friday, July 2 at 7:00pm in Morganville School gym, 307 Main, Morganville, KS 67468, with doors open at 6:30 pm. Tickets/admission are $8/person or $18/family, with advance tickets available through the website In June the tickets can be purchased directly from orchestra musicians and at Mayo's Department Store in Clay Center, KS. Masks, hand sanitizer, and social distancing will be practiced, and cool desserts will be available for purchase at intermission. The closed school is handicap accessible with free parking on city streets. New string players (except absolute beginners) are always welcome to join without any fee or audition.
